I've left a split CV boot unattended for too long and need to replace the CV on my RHS driveshaft.

Two Q's if anyone can help out!

Are TS and JTS driveshafts exactly the same or more broadly, are all 156/147 4cyl driveshafts interchangeable?

Furthermore, is it worth replacing the CV's and booties on current RHS driveshaft, or just get a good 2nd hand driveshaft and replace?

02/2001 156 TS is the car in question

Many thanks in advance,

The catalogue makes a distinction between left and right, although to me they look the same. Service parts are identical left to right.

The 156 series 1 2.0TS driveshaft part number 46307304 applies to 2.0 facelift 156 and the '03-'10 2.0 GT models also. I suspect the 147 has a marginally narrower track, at least the front.

I assume we are talking inner CV boot here?

Just replace the CV joint and boot with a new ones, they are less expensive than you think.

TS & JTS CV joints are the same.

Have you looked into reconditioning the driveshafts?
I've replaced boot, fitted second hand driveshafts on my 3.2 GT only to have them fail again sooner rather than later, I had a spare worn set that I sent to get recoed, cost $180 per side and haven't had an issue since

Thanks for all the help! A long overdue reply.

Ive chosen to recondition as 105junior suggested.Found a place that will do them for $165 per side.

For anyone else needing to do the same a few things that may help out:
- The Hub nut socket (36mm) needs to be ~48.5mm OD so that it does not foul and can engage on the nut entirely. I turned down an impact socket and it works a treat.
- It seems the upper wishbone balljoint needs to be separated to allow enough movement to remove the driveshaft from the hub. Maybe I can't wiggle it the right way, but I tried everything else before attempting to separate the ballpoint and for good reason! When I went to undo the nut, it sheared cleanly off. Probably had too much movement (since the rest of the suspension was loose) and evidently i was applying too much torque for the old bugger, but live and learn I guess. Luckily its about time for a new wishbone so could be worse as well.

Does anyone know the correct torque settings for the 6 cap screws that connect the driveshaft to the GB?

Thanks!

I could not source inner CV joint from Australian suppliers. Tried eBay, never got the parcel.

But then accidentally got a complete donor car which has gracefully donated axles to my race 156 so not a problem any more.
