50 Years of the Alfa Romeo Owners Club Victoria.
Spettacolo – Zagato Showcase
Sunday 1st December

Valued Guests, Club members, owners of Alfa Romeos and fans of the iconic Italian marque are invited to attend the club's annual Spettacolo Show'n Shine and Concorso event at our new location at Wesley College, 620 High Street Road, Glen Waverley.
This year's Spettacolo will feature the Zagato Showcase, a famous symbol first used in 1927. Over the decades, this iconic symbol has been used in a variety of guises.

Owners of any model of Alfa Romeo, regardless of age, are invited to bring their vehicle to Wesley College to be part of the celebration including interstate and other Italian Marque's on display.

With its close to perfect surface the manicured field at Wesley Oval, with the college as a backdrop, is the perfect venue for a display of classic Italian cars with more than 300 Alfa Romeos and other Italian car clubs expected on the day.

A feature of the event is the Wash 'n Shine" competition with its 26 categories available for owners to enter. These include Alfa Romeos, previous winners and other Italian marques.

With preliminary judging of the Concorso entries taking place on the day before the event, the final judging and presentation of trophies will take place during Sunday's Spettacolo.

Even if you don't wish to enter the competition, bring your Alfa along and display it on the magnificent Wesley College oval and be part of the largest all-Alfa Romeo display in the southern hemisphere.

There will be plenty of delicious food and refreshments available on the day, along with kid's rides, Alfa Romeo merchandise, trade stands with displays by the event's supporters, Alfa Romeo Dealers, Club advertisers and sponsors.

Kid's activities will include face painting and ballooning next to the jumping castle.

This year, we have more food, pizza pasta, great coffee and a sausage sizzle with some eating and shade tents provided for your convenience.  However, bring your own chairs and picnic table if required.

Please mark this event on your calendar and join us for this great celebration.

Nominal entry fee of $10 per car with visitors free.

To ensure a successful event on the day, any volunteer support would be warmly welcomed. :)

Hi John
Is there a reason why the committee has decided to charge $10 per car for members to display their cars this year?
Thanks
Phil

Stephen Aarons

I was curious about this too. I think it will stop members from bringing more than one car and cut down numbers.

Putting on Spettacolo costs the club (the members!) $13K<$15K per year.  Some of this is made up via sponsorship, however the vast majority of putting on Spettacolo is financed from club funds.  As the cost for putting on anything increases so does the financial impact on club.

If we (the committee and club) treated Spettacolo like say a race event, we would have to charge about $40 per car entry.
$10 cash per car entry to Spettacolo is relatively excellent value for money.  For the price of two coffees or 500ml of cheap brake fluid............I know where I'll be Sunday 1st December.

The usual $10 fee for Show n Shine entry has been waived............another reason for attending this fantastic event.

Bring the kids.......there will be face painting and other similar activities.

Who wouldn't attend this event and be part of the largest gathering of Alfas in the Southern Hemisphere!

Super keen as usual, however I have checked the weather and it is expected to rain Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully the weather holds out and it doesn't get cancelled.

A couple of spots of rain later in the day wont impact on Spettacolo in any way.
Months of preparation and planning will ensure the show will go on regardless of typical Melbourne weather!

We now have 6 spectacular and world class cars confirmed for Concorso.

Be sure to bring yourself, your car and $10 cash entry.  Remember, Show n Shine entry is free!

Congrats and well done to all the team behind Spettacolo yesterday!

It was a great event and well organised with a great turn out of cars despite the forecast.

It amazes me at the standard of some of the 'restored' cars around the paddock. I don't think they left the factory looking that good!

Cheers,

Paul.

P.S. Just one small observation.... It would be great if we could have cars parked 'front end' out in the displays. Nothing worse IMO to walk down the row and see the rear
end of cars (as lovely as an Alfa rear end may be!) I'd rather see the front presented to the admiring crowds!
Speed costs money - how fast do you want to go?

Certainly was a team event!
Kicking off a little after 07:00am, we had many cars arriving early.  This actually assists laying out the site for the 300+ cars on display.
A huge job well done to those marvellous volunteers who stayed back to help clean up the site later in the afternoon.

Many thanks to the sponsors of the event.  In no particular order:
