hi alfa owners,I have alfetta gtv6 1986 and heater air cond fan does not work, when turn switch, the yellow light used to change intensity on dash according to low, med, high speed, now yellow light stays same colour bright. Also when turn fan switch on,then air cond. switch on ,air cond will start but not fan.I have checked fuse for fan in fuse box under dash and appears to be ok and fan will spin if move with rod through air cond vents so not jammed,Last time I started car ,I always run air cond for while and was working fine..Are there any other in line fuses or relay to check, maybe faulty fan switch, any ideas out there  thanks

Have you checked the blower fan resistor?

Check the fan switch with a multimeter. You should have 12V at one of the wires with ignition on. If you don't you aren't getting power to the switch so work backwards to the fusebox. If you do, the switch sends power to one of the three wires depending on your selection which then feeds the resisters. Depending on your model they may be in the engine bay so easy to check there too. If that is working then it must be either the feed to the motor or the motor itself.

thanks for reply gtveloce,I will check power to switch. The fuse no.3 in fuse box is circuit for fan,the fuse appears ok but would be very old, fuse with metal ends and plastic base, may pay to renew all these fuses. I know where resistors are under bonnet, check it out and have spare air cond unit with all switches from parts car, thanks again guys

whilst its on get a pencil or a small screw driver and spin the fan manullay

if not used for some time the bushes could be stuck

Your fan speed is controlled by a wire resistor located usually in the air flow path of your evaporator unit. This is so that the resistor doesn't overheat as it is meant to dissipate heat in the process of changing the voltage that determines your fan speed. The wire typically gets very corroded and can corrode through and break just like a tungsten filament bulb. And just like that bulb that not longer glows, your fans stops getting the power it needs to turn.
My money is with festy and suggest it is your fan sped regulator wire that is open circuit from corrosion. Get ready for a pain in the arse job.
