Hi guys

Few questions
1, Is pentrite hbr 5 5w 40 full synthetic suitable?

2, sump socket bolt size?
Read conflicting info
Some say 15mm some say 13mm and some say 17mm

3, socket size for oil filter and does it have 1 or 2 O rings and can I use a non genuine oil filter from repco.

4, can I use non genuine air filter from repco

And finally how many bolts  to remove under tray and what type and size bolts.

Sorry if this has been discussed before.

Kind regards
Maria

I had a 3.2 JTS in my 159 and always used Motul 8100 X-cess 5w-40.  This oil has the Fiat approvals 9.55535-G2 / H2 / M2 / N2 / Z2.  The viscosity index of 172 is also pretty good as is the Flash Point of 2300C.

The 2.2 may have a different sump plug and oil filter to the 3.2 so shouldn't comment.  I usually purchased filters from Italian Auto Spares in Brunswick - quality products and long standing club supporters.

Seem to recall more than a dozen different sized bolts and screws needed to remove under tray!!  Needed a 1/2" drive socket set, 1/4" drive socket set and a Phillips head driver!

Find attached links on "How to" engine oil and oil and air filter replacement for your 159 2.2 litre. Please note that either video does not include removal of underbody engine tray. For oil spec OEM requirement is SAE 5W-40 or refer to their links.

Hi
Thank you for your help

I read that I also have to do a
Oil indicator reset and a oil change procedure for the engine.

I have a OBD2LINK MX and been talking to AlfaOBD regarding there software and asked him about service reset and below is what I received

From AlfaOBD

Ok, I see, service indicator reset is supported via the corresponding procedure for the instrument panel. Also depending on the engine model you might need to run the "Oil change" procedure for the engine.

I assume you mean Penrite HPR 5 5w40, and yes, that is correct for your 2.2JTS

If I remember correctly its 32mm, one ring and yes, Repco filters are fine

Yes

And finally how many bolts  to remove under tray and what type and size bolts.

You'll need a T-30 Torque Tip, a 6mm Hex Tip and a medium phillips screw driver

And NO, you don't do a oil reset on the 2.2JTS, only on the diesels & 1750TBi.

Hi baz

Thank you so much for your help.

When you say
And NO, you don't do a oil reset on the 2.2JTS, only on the diesels & 1750TBi.

So I don't have to do ANY resets?

Reason why I'm asking is because I read that there are 2 different kinds of service resets

1 for oil Oil indicator reset and 1 for oil change procedure for the engine.

Sorry if I'm asking too many questions but I'm learning

Kind regards
Maria
