Hi All 👋
I'm really excited to say I have a deposit on my first Alfa, a 2011 159 2.4 Sportwagon JTDM Auto in Melbourne.
It has a good service history but is due a Cambelt and I have zero clue as to what I should budget for this.
Some cars are fine and some are crazy expensive and I'm hoping it's not a deal breaker as it's such a beautiful car.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading
Cheers,
Michael.

Hi Michael
Congratulations on your purchase of the 159 JTDM auto. May I suggest if at all possible to negotiate the cambelt change as part of the purchase price. If not, the estimate for a water pump and cam belt kit could be around $1K including parts and labour (refer to cambelt and water pump kit available on e-bay).

Thanks Bonno!

That's a reasonable cost. Received a couple of quotes this morning from $850 to $1200.
Getting this car as a just traded bargain and I know there's no meat left for the dealer to play with.
It's in Melbs and I'm buying from country SA, independent inspection is happening today so fingers crossed there.

Having zero contacts in Melbs can anyone recommend a reputable shop(s) in Melbs to have the Cambelt and some minor repairs done.
I'll have to stay in a hotel while it gets done before driving home so it's worth spending good coin to get good work.

Cheers,
Michael.
