Fact/fiction/urban myth that there are new CAMS regs regarding this? Ray has heard that all cameras cannot weigh any more than 100grams! It can be connected to a floor mounted video device (eg: camera with accessories extension cord to the 100gm camera).

Edit......I just read it, and it states as of Jan 1 it will probably be max 100grams!!!! Guess we will just have to wait and see.

Kinda silly though, when you consider some of the other stuff that gets put into cars with some pretty flimsy bracket in comparison. Just look at the extinguisher, yes they have a metal bracket, but they are just thin sheetmetal and they are not made from 5mm aluminium or attached to a roll cage as the reg's for camera's requires (and most of them are well below 1kg).

Looks like my system is still ok, as long as I upgrade the box for the video. It's 100g unless mounted to the floor, so look at remote cameras and a video recording device. There's a commercial one advertised in the CAMS magazine.

Is the one advertised the GoPro Hero cameras? If so, then it's interesting to note that the specs have these cameras at 100 grams. Coincidence?

I believe that they are very good cameras, a few of the guys in the Club have them already. Apparently there is a WIDE lense now available for this camera.

I have just trialled this in the GTA.

It writes from analogue video sources (like the bullet cams) directly to memory card. It uses mp4 to compress the video, so it's got some artifacts.
It's only a trip home from the shops, but you get the idea.
No sound either.
