Alfasud workshop in Brisbane

I have decided to bring my 82 sud back to life after about 5 years.  It was my daily driver, but for some reason I decided that I needed a 4wd but I couldn't bring myself to sell the alfa, so it has been sitting around gathering dust (and a little rust).  Battery was removed, but I start it every year or so without any great trouble.  It has a seized front caliper and the clutch system is not doing the right thing - and I am planning on putting it on a truck or trailer to am alfa workshop.  Back in the day, I had the car worked on by Volare Alfa who kept the car doing all the right things, but I understand that they are no longer in existence.
A few years ago I called one of the alfa specialists, and was basically told that they work on proper alfas (read not boxers).

Who is worth taking my car to around Brisbane now?

Thanks

The most recommended place/person for work on classic alfas since I've been in the Qld AROCA is Richard Andersen at Avanti Spares in Northgate

pretty sad if the alfa "experts" you spoke to didn't want to touch the sud/33 series cars. An alfa is an alfa!! Yes, the 2Litre engine is magnificent, but suds were quite successful in rallies in england in the 80's according to an english mechanic I used way back then (he was familiar with, and worked on, both my wife's sud and my own ford capri.) I had my old sud ti re-engined back in the early 90s and found plenty of alfa workshops who were more than happy to do it. I got it done at Volare Alfa (now Avanti) but if you read some of the other recent posts, you will discover that Richard Anderson of Avanti is not well at the moment and the workshop is open only limited hours. Some reputable companies can be found on the "sponsors" page of the AROCA Qld website: http://www.aroca-qld.com/sponsors.php - I personally have used APF motors at Boondall for many years and the owner, Angelo, worked on my sud years back!

I found some good references to APF motors in my searches, and had my car dropped off there on Saturday.  Angelo certainly knows his stuff, and I'm sure he will look after my car.  I need to make a decision as to whether I should replace my reliable 85hp 1.5 single carb engine with something more powerful (105hp 1.5 if I can find one or a 1.7 of some sort) which may not end up being as reliable due to unknown history, service, mileage etc.....
Anyhow, I am on track to get my sud back on the road!!

Nice to know you've found Angelo to sort your sud. Having re-engined my sud all those years back, I regretted it - not because it was a bad job, but because it destroyed the originality of the car :)

In case you interested, the story of my old sud is here: http://www.aroca-qld.com/library_articles/falfa1.php

Angelo appears to know his stuff!
Originality is not a major concern for me - I am chasing a bit of extra power so I will be happier with the car as a daily driver.  I will retain the existing engine so will ahve the ability to return it to nearer original specs should I ever feel the urge.
I read the story of your sud, and that story was part of the reason for me calling APF in the first place.
