Hi All,

I have had a lingering issue over the past couple months where my 2015 Giulietta QV TCT would all of a sudden flash a transmission warning on the dash and go into a sort of limp mode where I either can't shift past 2nd gear or it get's stuck in neutral.

I have to pull over the car, disconnect the battery and wait at least half an hour before it resets itself and I can drive again.

I initially thought it was a battery issue, so I had replaced the battery to no avail. The Alfa mechanic thought it may be a TCT control module failure after hours of investigation, which cost me an arm and a leg, which we replaced. The issue is now less frequent but still occurring.

I had noticed that the TCT pump priming sound seemed louder than usual and almost like it was struggling each time I unlocked the car and opened the door before driving.

See the video and sound here: https://youtube.com/shorts/eehw2Wg2fVY?feature=share

My Alfa dealer/workshop has recommended replacing the hydraulic pump motor, which is this part:

However they noted that if you are replacing this motor, they recommend replacing the whole hydraulic system, which is this part and is MUCH more expensive, especially from the dealer ($3600):

However instead of the whole kit which is quite expensive, I am thinking of potentially just purchasing the pump motor and the accumulator where I would save a decent amount. Which is this part:

Apparently it is only a 1 hour job to install either way, but I wanted to see if there is anyone out there with an opinion or experience of this issue and whether I should replace just the motor or the whole kit.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Thank you,

Joel.
