dead batteries and c tek chargers

Hi all
A battery ive left un used for 6-12 months in the car (and newish and slightly used)
is now identified as faulty by my c tek charger.
Is it true that c tek chargers have a problem discriminating between a faulty battery and a v flat battery?

Use an old school charger if you have one to build some charge back then run the ctek. I have done this several times

Had a go with the charger (a bit old), no joy.
Am thinking of putting the battery in parallel with the 156 and idle the engine for 15minutes to get some charge into it and then try again with the ctek

Could be the battery is just beyond redemption, they don't like being left dead flat for extended periods.

keep a ctek close by for sporadically used cars...they are the bomb!

well, went back to the battery, gave it a shake to slosh the electrolyte and it took a full charge!
