to paint or not to paint the exhaust manifolds

Am thinking of painting the headers on the v6 156 a high temp or ceramic coating to lower the heat radiating from them (how does the alternator survive?)
any thoughts? good idea or should i not spend the $$.
White pipes would look nice : )
