We are organising an EMR from outer Melbourne to Trawool Valley Resort on Sunday 15th February.

It is a great location and a club lunch is organised.  Here is the link:

This will be a great run thru a range of roads and scenery covering Yarra Valley, Kinglake environs & Tallarook.

Final details to follow.

I just spent 2 hours mapping the course on Whereis.
Though completely frustrating, I am now really looking forward to this run.
Lets hope for a good turn out.  It should be a great day.

Dam I'am away, at least I will have the Alpine Way to play on, don't miss this as there are two ways to get from Hillsville to Kinglake the good way and the better way, the 1st is real Alfa stuff and the other is Just Tramac Rally Porn. back in the days of Jeff Kennett both these roads where listed as tarmac stages for Rally Melbourne when it made its bid for an OZ WRC round as a mixed surface event, its missed out because the WRC abandoned mixed surface events.

John Hanslow

Due to the the bushfires  in most of the areas of our EMR route Kinglake, Glenburn & Flowerdale, this event has been postponed.

With extreme fire danger and disaster related concerns, it would not be appropriate to travel in that region for the moment.

Regards.

Hopefully we can get a lot of cars out there once the all clear is given and spend some money in the towns as the residents rebuild their livelihoods.  Just a terrible situation.

On a brighter note, Anthony- I know these roads you speak of rather well, they are just magic!  Didn't know they were listed as potential WRC stages, surely there are enough stages up around that way to form a full tarmac event!

I could not agree more Adam, as car enthusiasts these are the roads he head to when we look for a good drive.  And the people who have lost family, friends, homes are the same folk that serve us coffee, provide accommodation, make us meals, pour us a beer etc.

Yes Phil, I had to cancel the lunch booking at the resort as the event was cancelled.  Could not have run this any other way  under the circumstances ...

This is going to have a flow on effect in the region for some time.

Also did not even get to confirm our morning tea stop at the Toolangi pub- as it is probably providing food and shelter to some survivors of the 700 destroyed homes and farms in the area. !!

It was only due to one of our EMRs about a year ago that I was introduced to Marysville.  Despite talking about it many times, it took until 3 weeks ago to return with my wife to show her how beautiful it was. There was a clear sense of pride in the town and its facilities. It was a terrible shock to then see on tv the charrred remnants of the whole township and hear the stories of awful personal loss. I hope that some time down the track, we are able to return on a club EMR and provide a days labour to whatever community rebuilding project is then underway.

A Working Bee!!   Excellent idea John

Great idea, John.  Can some one mention this tonight and guage some real interest and I will organise this as an ALL register Activity say in 1 month or so.  Got to let the situation sort itself out first.

Got to let things settle down for a few weeks and then chose a community .e. Flowerdale, Glenburn and extent of assistance determined.  I only refer to those loxcations as was going to ouganise morning tea stop at one or the other.  I would be appropriate to offer help anyway.

Open to suggestions and a plan.

Cheers.

For those interested in this Sunday's EMR to the Mornington Peninsula it will be a bit different from the past.
1) It will be faster and longer than usual.
2) A mixture of medium speed and scenic driving, coupled by fast sweeping cruising.
3) 2 tunnels for V6 windows down.
4) No stops for about 2 hours (unless you use the bush)
5) As total driving time could be in excess of 3 hours it is imperative that we leave the meeting point at 9.30 sharp!!
6) Club member Rob Licciardo has invited us to luncheon at his famous eatery in Mt Eliza at the end, at a special rate.
B.Y.O and no corkage. $16.00 Entre.
7) Route notes and Lunch menu will be handed out at 9.00 am.
Meet at Peter Scullin Reserve, 'Windows on the Bay' Car Park at Mordialloc Melway ref: 92 E1 9.00am for 9.29 departure.
Finish should be 12.30-1.00 in Mt Eliza 10 minuites from Frankston. Call me for any other details. 0417-365929

Hi Guys,
If the EMR has plenty of twisties is it OK to drive a non-Alfa, as my Spider is terribly thirsty & my Exige does 35 MPG even when pushed, destoys corners & makes a great sound through tunnels  :-)
