Clicking noise when shifting

Noticed a precise but moderately annoying clicking sound coming from the shift mechanism when changing gears.  Eventually I realise there is a millimetre or so of lateral travel in the shift knob 😁.  10mm socket gently applied and the issue is gone.

Tip: when prying out the (plastic) shift pattern inlay, lever it out from three or nine o'clock.  The longer lugs holding it in are at twelve and six.
