147 GTA selespeed issue

Bought a 04 147 GTA Selespeed and absolutely love it. Have noticed that when taking off in first there is sometimes a slight hesitation - or bunny hop if you like - that occurs briefly. Took it to alfa and they plugged in some instrument but it did not fix the problem. They suggested taking it back to look at the acentator cable or clutch? They said if it is the selespeed then it is not covered under my extended warranty - that i paid for. They said it could cost upwards of $4500.
It doesnt happen all the time. Do you think it is something I could forget about or will it get worse? And has any one else any clue that might be causing this? maybe it is not related to the gearbox? hopefully. Should I get a 2nd opinion?
Can anyone recommend a good servicer in brisbane or gold coast?

If you look at threads concerning 156 models, we have had a bit of discussion about this. The problem will only get worse.  The cost can be replacment of the actuator and also the pump so it appears you have been given a ful 'quote'. 

In Brisbane, I myself know that there is Alfamotive  and also check on the Qld car club web page for contact details of Afla specialists.    Some of these will give benefits to club members.  You should get the full picture and options with a call ot two.

Thanks John for the reply. Had the Alfa checked out by the main dealer in Brisbane. Thought the worst - and so did they - that it was the actuator or pump. turns out I had to pay for labour only. The problem found as described on their worksheet: CARRIED OUT CLUTCH BLEED AND END OF LINE CONFIGURATION CARRIED OUT CLUTCH SLIP TEST AND RESTARTED CLUTCH CONTROL SOLINOID. So far all good. Now a little too smooth off the lights, but burning less rubber and money as a result. Hope this helps anyone out there with the tricky selespeed gearbox fitted to the GTA. jamesb.
