I'd like to know if other members of the forum have used a manometer of some sort to adjust carbys. The Carbtune is $180 and looks good but seems a bit expensive. Maybe someone has built their own?

I do have a carbi balancer but always found it easier and more accurate to do it by ear.
once you have done it a few times it relatively easy.

Another method to balance Webbers without a manometer is to remove the brass plug the covers the progression drilling holes and with a torch use the throttle plates as a guide.  Actuate the throttle until you can see the throttle plate on the primary carby line up with one of the holes, then adjust the secondary carby throttle plate to line up with the same hole, as the holes are very small it seems to be a fairly accurate way of balancing.
