Alfa Romeo 155

This is my one. Its a Japanese  LHD Q4 - December 1994 build. You can buy a Q4 in Japan at Auction from about 5-9K (AUD) depending on condition. It costs about an additional 5K to cover transport (by boat..) taxes and fees to get it cleared.  Parts can be an issue - Its cheaper and less hassle to buy them direct from europe than to mess around here. As a standard car their power/weight ratio is uninspiring.

Yes it was roughly the year. As far as I know, there are around a dozen 155s in Australia...Foley's 24V 164s seem to be more common than the 155s.

There was even a 145 on carsales last year that someone had personally imported from New Zealand.

The 155 at Spettacolo was indeed road registered and is driven regularly.

yes, because it is mine.

my 155 was one of the Foley Motors imports. it is a '94 2L 8V model, imported from Hong Kong by Brian Foley Motors in 2000. oh, and the previous owner was in Adelaide where you are! i flew over, paid, and drove home to VIC.

that red one could be worth considering. it looks in decent condition, and very 'original'. sourcing parts hasn't been a major issue for me - eBay (UK) and EB Spares (UK).

of course, 'an offer i can't refuse' is always an option for you . however, i doubt you'd want to pay me the $14K+ that the car owes me ($6K purchase price + $8K+ in parts + my labour of love to restore it).

but it's a great car to own and drive. not very refined like a 156, but has amazing grip and feels very nimble in comparison, and still feels special on the road. people have no idea what it is!

Within the last 18 months the following maintenance has been done: new alternator, two new front tires, new fuel filter, new muffler, A/C re-gassed, new CV joints & boots, new lower steering control arms & steering rack ends, new brake compensator valve, new spark plugs, new battery, new front & rear brake disks (Bendex), new front & rear brake pads (Magneti Marelli), as well as general servicing and regular replacement of the engine oil & filter and air filter.

All replacement parts used are genuine Alfa Romeo or better.


This car is lovely to drive and is in great condition, with its only fault being some sun damage to the clear coat of the paint on the roof & bonnet - this is from the previous owner who did not have it garaged. It is very comfortable for long trips, has all the extras and a nice big boot. It has just hit 150,000km recently, and as you can see from the maintenance list above, the 150,000km servicing has already been done. This was my wife's car during the week and we also occasionally took it for long trips when we went on holidays, etc. Unfortunately we need to upgrade to a bigger car as I am a musician and we have recently had a baby, and on a weekend trip it is suddenly much harder to fit the luggage, the music gear, and the pram and everyone in the car!
