Alfa Romeo 164 q

Im selling a BMW 525i 1989 and looking at buying an alfa romeo 164 q

Im only 18 but had a 156 selespeed 2001. model andd im currently driving my mothers 166 but my whole family is based around alfa romeo's and i was just wondering any1 know any reknown issues with the 164 Q.

and Prices that i should look at ? or maybe a 75 i was thinking about ? which is the better out of the two?

beautiful car,just be aware service history and timing belts can be costly to change as its cumbersome to get to,remember 164 is front wheel drive,instruments are problematic,buy carefully,as many cars have been neglected and electrics take a beating,costly to repair,for my money id go for a 75,rear wheel drive and less problems,but both are awesome cars,happy searching.ciao

my girlfriends oldman has one and loves it the power is awesome he might be selling as he has brought a porsche 911 (traider) i also know a guy selling a white 164q i will try and organise some pics if i can

Must once again agree with Lombardi, if you can find an unmolested 75 in fair condition particularly if its got the 2.5 six, given its rear wheel drive with less suseptable electrics, I'd go the 75, its also more focused and will be much more fun on the twisties!

you really need to drive both and go from there i am a big rwd fan and i would take a 3ltr 75 anyday of the week but the feeling you get when you go from 5th to 3rd when wanting to overtake in the Q is something worth experiencing it just throws you back and says hold the funk on and enjoy the ride and boy did i enjoy that

yea i like the alfa 75 alot

i dont know if you guys have seen a Red one around from Victoria A 2.0lt Twin spark turbo charged pulling 425 horses .. my uncle built it from scratch and i enjoyed the car a hell of alot. and i was thinking of the 75 at the time of my first car although i went in 164 Q and loved it as well but i havnt driven ethier as of yet.

I also believe the 164Q is a better looking car but it depends. like i also like the 75 after it has the sports kits on it.

and if you like to see a video of the alfa 75 search Alfa 75 TS turbo 425hp in youtube and it is there on the island. and a video of it in front of my uncles house.

and im also a fan of RWD rather then FWD but i dont mind to be honest.

I've had mine since 1992 and love it. Just had it's 145K service at Maranello PurSang yesterday. Apart from a clutch that is starting to wear and a minor oil leak (Giancarlo said to wait and get both done at a later date) it passed with flying colors. If you are ever in Werribee, welcome to take it for a drive.

Thanks joe , sounds good to me.. Im seriously stuck on the two cars ive heard good things about both althought i think the 75 3.0 v6 maybe have a little more balls considering the weight in that car. but im not to fussed im more in it for the Note of the car and the looks

A 75 is the last rear wheel drive Alfas pre merger. 

How a bout a 75 Potenziata that has a 164 engine (not the q) in it any way - hard to find but ... you never know ?
