In an act of great stupidity while trying to fix a broken cable which opens the bonnet I failed to secure the bonnet prop and after I had loosened the cable where it attaches to the latch the bonnet fell down and of course now I can't open it.  I have tried all sort of ways of trying to prise up the bonnet enough to get at the release but it is very difficult without damaging the paint work and the mudguard etc.  It is also very difficult to see as the gap is so small.  I am also a little hampered as I can't recall exactly how the latch works and which bit I should be pushing or pulling to make it release if I can get at it.

If a kind 105 owner could send me a photo of the latch and a description of how the release works I would be very grateful.  Also a measurement of how far the latch is from the edge of the bonnet.

Hi Gregr,

The locking pin turns anti-clockwise to release the latch.  The pin is positioned 11.5cm directly in front of the windscreen washer jet (measured centre to centre on my 1750).  How you get a tool (such as curved forceps) in there to turn the pin is a mystery to me.
Lets hope one of our more experienced members will know 'the trick'.
Good luck.
Cheers,
Marco.

Marco, thanks for your help.  I eventually took the car to my Alfa Specialist and he was able to lift the bonnet enough to get a wad of rag under the edge near the windscreen and then a piece of wood under the corner.  He then used a long screwdriver to push against the release and joy oh joy it opened.  I have bought a length of inner cable for motor bike clutchs from a motor bike dealer and will refit.

Cheers

Great news Gregr.
At least we all now know there is a solution.
Cheers,
Marco.
