hey guys quick question, had some mechanical work completed including donut replacement, after which travelling on freeway at the speed of 110 120kph the car has some trembling (only way to decribe it) as speed increases so does the trembling, could it require the tail shaft to be rebalanced?, if yes who and where can this be done? i am located in between Sydney and Newcastle
thanx again for any imput

Mat Francis

Which donuts were replaced? was the work done by a specialist? was the shaft marked and put back together the right way?
does it do it as the revs rise, or are you certain it is based on road speed? lots of things that can be done wrong with that shaft, ask me how i know.

hey matt, the front donut, work done by specialist, doesnt happen thru the gears have taken it to 6 in second very smooth, just at speed start to feel it at 105 and as i go faster increase in feeling took it to 140 and very strong trembling

Mat Francis

Sorry Franck, all the things that came to mind immediately don't seem such culprits anymore. Given that it's not dependent on engine speed would have me less suspicious of the driveshaft though. hopefully someone else is more helpful

Definitely not a problem with the tail shaft, remember the tailshafts in these cars have absolutely NOTHING to do with road speed.  Wheels out of balance, flatspotted tyres, wheel bearings, suspension bushes..... All possibilities to consider.  Not an exhaustive list, but common things to check for a roadspeed related vibration.

Hi Franck,
Firstly did they take the wheels off at all?.Did they rotate the wheels?.CHECK THE WHEEL NUTS are tight. Is the steering wheel shaking at all?.Could be they rotated the wheels and put an out of round or out of balance wheel on the front.

geez you guys are on the ball!! brakes were done, as well rear boots, and timing belt, anyway 3k worth of work so quite a bit of work! first let me say thankyou to you all for your time and answers, i am in debted! i will check all the above that you have mentioned, you probably wonder why not take it back to my mechanic, well he is 200k away, not difficult to do, but time is a little problem as we all know!, however when the problem is found will post a mess for the next person that may encounter the same problem.

Red Devil GTV6

Hi Franck,

I have had my GTV6 for 4weeks now.....bought it in Sydney and drove it up the F3 to Newcastle. My GTV has after market mags on it (have the originals which i have put back on). Once I put them on shaking stopped. Prvious owner didn't do a wheel balance or alignment. Are you wheels original.

May help may not.....just another suggestion.

Any photos of your new ride?

Cheers
