Just got my 2ltr head back after Vin Sharp worked his magic - ported, new larger inlet + exhaust valves, new inlet cam, carb spacers and exhaust manifold on the way.

Obviously fired up to do some work first thing today. I start to torque up the head and SNAP, a head stud shears off at the very base of the block. The stud was corroded so badly that the point where it broke it was thinner than a pencil ?!?!?!?!.

Anyone have any advice (excluding getting the block to Vin) on removing the broken stud ?.

Block is still in the car so I have no idea of the state of the other studs.....*sob*

If all of that looks a bit hard it might be easier to get another 2 litre block. In a blatent plug i have got a spare 2 litre engine for sale if your interested.

I havent been able to bring myself to go near the car since. A new block is definitely a cheaper option.

I have been in contact with Vin from Pace - I might get in contact with you in the next week or two.

Sound like you are developing a high performance engine. To state the obvious, if you change blocks or repair the original one, I assume you have taken the liner seals into consideration..otherwise next looming failure.
