hi guys
ive been reading all your comments on the jts engine - ive had my 156 jts for 2months and absolutley love it - my previous 156 t spark was also great - but selespeed where as jts is manual ( missed the stick too much haha) i purchased my car at 106000 and it had just had its full cam belt stuff done ( changed ) and a full service ( by the same alfa specialist i use in perth) i have just  hit 110  000 and today needed 2 litres of oil - as ive read thru the other great stories/comments/tips on here im a little worried my engine is damaged due to running it so low (my dip stick showed level on min)AAAARRRRR

My TS neva used a drop at 170 000 km - have i been a bad father  by not checking ?  i am an alfaholic having previously fathered  sprint/ 33 /33 16v  those guys ddint drink as much oil
any commenst/tips would help me rest  :(

thankyou

it seems you just have to keep an eye on the oil level of modern Alfas just as much as you do the classics.

You'd probably know you had done any damage due to low oil by now so cross fingers all is good and just continue to keep an eye on the level and keep a container of good quality oil on hand at home for regular small top ups.

What sort of oil? there are several threads on that on this forum, but better quality = less consumption.

i see you are in WA but not a member yet... do you want a membership form???  ;D

it had its service at 106 000 but im not sure if cileberties have used agip/selenia or shell

ta for your answer

Ed's raised a few good points here - the better the oil the less used. And once the warning light is on, the damage has been done (a comment raised in Auto Italia).

However it seems that the JTS does use more oil than the Twin Spark but every car is different.

hi Edward

there is actually a place in henderson  ' SOUND OIL DISTRIBUTOR ' (dont know where that is ) that has just stopped being the agip rep - they have stock of the racing oil that auto italia suggested at $45 for 4 litres  - which is fine -its a long drive for me tho  i mite try penrite sin10

ta for form - do u have to be member to go to mito launch ? what times meeting on tuesday ?

My 156 needed a top up between services, my 159 does not seem to need this at all. I can say pretty confidently from some work we've done for another car company that brand has nothing to do with oil consumption and grade doesn't have a huge effect. I'd stick with fully synthetic and whatever grade Alfa suggests, but wouldn't get too stressed over brand.
