This is what will happen to steel rims fitted with 'R' spec tyres.

This could be a hazard to you and other competitors on the track.

Our supplementary regulations do provide this warning, so be wary.

Thanks to Mick Pannell for the pictures.

Neil,

Isn't the warning in the sup regs at odds with the 2009 competition rules?

The sup regs section 3.2 states "All vehicles will be required to comply with the AROCA competition rules..."

From the 2009 Competition Rules - General Information section.
5. Tyres:
a. "R" type tyres are tyres of a sporting nature that supply more grip than standard tyres fitted to
that model of vehicle. Refer to Competition Secretary for guidance on "R" tyres.
b. Any car fitted with tyres marked "for competition use only" or "R" type tyres must be fitted to
Alloy or Magnesium wheels - i.e. steel wheels are NOT permitted.

Doesn't this dsisallow the use of R tyres on steel rims at AROCA events.
And shouldn't the warning be replaced to reflect the current rules?

Alan.

Adam Ronke contacted me last night and told me that those wheels happened at last years AROCA 6 Hour at Winton, and the pic was only taken recently, is that correct?

the photos were only taken on Sunday 9th at the Winton Sprint.
