Well, the car is now starting. It seem's that there was an intermittent problem with the fuel pump relay.... which eventually failed. The wire that went to the fuel pump (white and pink) wasn't getting 12v, The other white and pink one was (what's it feed?) So the relay had only half failed, just the half that we needed. So all I did was stripped a bit of the insulation off the wire with the 12v on it, and twisted/taped the fuel pump wire to it. Now it works when the ignition is on.

The second problem was the spark plugs. Being a 2L alfetta type of a person, I had only brought 4 spark plugs with me (old ones that were still alright) So I changed 1,2,4 and 5. The car started... albeit a little rough at first but settled down after a minute or two.

Thanks heaps to Dehne who was able to answer all of my questions off the top of his head (he said he had been through it once or twice before)

Might want to put new plugs in it when it arrives John, and maybe tidy up some of those wire around the battery. And I have to apologize for breaking the coil lead while I was checking for spark.

It's obviously been garaged it's whole life, so what are your plans for it?

Ah, the Alfa fraternity at its best. Great to see it alive and well still.


....and as the big semi pulled out of the depot with a full load the truckie is seen with a pie floater in one hand, a can of "V" in the other and nursing the wheel between his knees. You could hear Johnny Guitar Watson wailing  "A Real Mother For Ya' out of the windows as the tailights faded out into the western horizon....

hows the 90 going have you driven her yet

Yes shes not concourse but not far from it.
She is a true one owner 89000km driven by an elderly man garaged all her life basically I'm stoked with the condition for the money.
The gearbox operates likes new, engine sweet now I have changed the spark plugs and given her a Italian tune up.
Interior like new etc etc.

Now for the bad parts 
Rear diff mount perished.(I will replace all 3)
R/H rear inner CV boot split.
Driver's door seal at the bottom broken.
Shock absorbers look and feel new but the rubbers at the bottom are perished.
R/H stering rack boot split.
Front lower ball joints worn.
Two bald rear tires.

Where's the best place to source these parts are these the same part numbers as the GTV6?

I don't know about GTV6, but it's all the same as 75 stuff.  The boots you can just get generic items.  Plenty of parts guys in Melbourne as well, look at the sponsors link on the main page.

Sounds like a good 'un, won't be many one owner cars left.

turin imports is the easiest way but if you have a auto pro near by you should be able to order all parts from there as thats where i get my stuff from. aparts from the tyres have you heard of a tyre dealer before ive heard they are the best place to get tyres from  but buy 2nd hand you will get a 70 + % tread for around 30 - 40 bucks fitted and some times balanced what kind of shocks do you want david from the forum has a heap of koni reds and yellows if thats the way you want to go
