hi all have to sell one of the toys, the gtv was for my son, but he is not into it the fact that he is over 6foot and 17yrs young into surfing and mountain bikes, he really needs an old ute that he can throw his stuff in and not worry that he'll damage anything, so my dilema love the gtv6 but also the sp1, so have decided which ever sells first then so be it!

I agree  ;D

Sell the bike!

At the end of the day the bike is going to depreciate and it's 8 year old technology which is light years in bike years.
Where as the GTV6 is bound to start appreciating as it is a 25 year old classic car at the end of this year.

hey maybe im another unrealistic vendor, but a little equation with the gtv6 and its condition... howmany times have we read the problems in buying cheap and then the headaches of trying to source a good mechanic, or various replacement parts, or howmuch does it cost do do a timing belt, or it went well for the 1st month and then....my car you can jump in it today drive to perth with no hint of it breaking down, as a matter of fact apart from oil changes every 5k nothing should go wrong for the next 60k that will be when timming belt need replacing, never smashed, no cracked dash, drvers seat still as new, wheels light weight and only 9mts old, hell just trying to source wheels for these things is a real time consuming effort.

the R6 is a great bike!! but i get past the emotion of the 1000 vtwin, thanx anyway

Did you only buy this car not long ago? i remember reading a post about it about 6-12 months ago?

If you get $15k ill be stoked, it means that my immaculate silver GTV6 has gone up by $5k in one year, good luck with it but i would suggest that a really good one would get $11k at the most but have a crack at it.

My suggestion is to keep it, a true classic to be enjoyed, im holding onto mine for the long haul, it gets plenty of pampering so it should hold up well for many more years.

Cheers,

hey Age yes thats right had it the same time as you bought the silver one' and as i remember looking at david's silver gtv while it was nice there were a couple of issues which i presume would have fetched a couple of thousand to put right, and coupled with the fact that david and his brother had rebuilt the engine,i thought it wiser to go with all the records from alfa specialist in fivedock with the white one, thats only my opp, the fact that 10 to 11k would be the right price i would nearly agree... without the wheels (enkei) and suspension (konis) new donuts...and more which i need to look at book to keep listing. as i said which ever goes 1st bike or car that will be it, only need one sold

AgeG

well i have done timing belts, 2 new tyres, and changed a thermo switch, known issues when i bought it but wouldnt expect to get that money back if i sold it tomorrow, just part of owning a depreciating toy i guess. I love it all the same!

fair, however the value of these cars can differ, again you may have a car that is an original owner with very low ks that will fetch quite high prices, as i would rather pay more for one of these cars as opposed to a car with no known history, and difficult to understand what your really buying, take for example an australian delivered 911 vintage 80-83 so an sc. in australia you could pay north of 45k for a low mileage one owner, with complete dealer history, then take an american, or english import with little or no history and you may not even achieve 20k. same car they were all built in stuttgardt , but the maintaining of the car and by whom counts for a lot when it comes to older and poss collectable cars as to accertain a selling price

dehne

i agree regarding the sc being the my other halfs dad has one and its worth and has had offers of $60,000 plus and there was an idendical one on ebay which was going for $16,000 but i also think the a 911 is a more sort after car and the demand for it is a lot higher than a gtv6
I think what we are all trying to say whether is worded politly or harsh is there is a current value for these cars which is lower than what you are asking but there also is a high end bracket where certain cars with a history and genuine low kms has a place but you just might be waiting longer because you need the buyer in that bracket to come along
but saying that keep the gtv it will be worth more to you in the long run plus give it a few years and it prob be worth $20,000 as long as you keep it in its current cond

at 15k there is a buyer, however its too late for this one to be collectable, i am pretty sure for a true collectable u need to be unmodified very low ks and as it came out of the factory, with poss only one max two owners.

dehne

thats great that you have most likely sold her but i still would keep it you prob will not find another in her cond
