Hi Everyone!

Seems like a nice forum here, reason I'm joining is that I'm considering purchasing an Alfa upon the sale of my Holden (Opel) Vectra. I'm looking at the 166, from about 99-03. Drawn to Alfas because of their style and drivability, and their outrageous depreciation (which makes 2nd hand buyers kinda happy)
Anything you guys think I should know? (Keep in mind I'm no stranger to unreliability given the Vectra ;P)

cheers, or should that be "ciao"

Hi Jerram

Dont know much more than the press releases etc.

Always touted as the luxury model with all the bells and whistles but supposedly softer suspension, and therefore maybe a bit less "racy" to drive.

I'm sure one of our 166 drivers will post a reply.

If you can put up with an unreliable Vectra you should have no issue with a modern Alfa -their reputation for unreliability in not founded on fact, just rantings from people who drive cars not Alfa's :-)

Catch ya

Thanks mate

yeah well the vectra was pretty unacceptable reliability wise; it's getting to the age where all the niggly things start to catch up with you so it's time to go I think.

Also I'll gladly take a v6 alfa over the 2.0 opel motor any day - the other car I'm considering is a BMW High-Line E36 328i
