Finally reassembling the GTV6 after about 3 years, so memory and records are a little sketchy.  I seem to have most of the wiring in place except for 1 mystery rather thick earth strap.  I had somewhat vaguely labelled it as "side of engine block" but to what and where on the engine block?

I have the battery cable connected, the starter cable connected and an earth cable that I had a photo of connected from the LH front of the V6 engine block to the LH inner guard just behind the headlight.  But I still have this cable, it is about 4-5mm thick and has a big flat terminal both ends to go under a bolt head.  It is green and about 30-40 cm long.

Anyone got their head in the engine bay over next few days and happens across this, any information greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Look at it a theoretical sense. The rest is cosmetics.

You need the heaviest ground terminal from your battery negative terminal to the engine block. This can be via the body shell especially if the battery is in the boot. This serves amongs other things to provide plenty of current for your starter motor.Doesn't much matter where you install this on the block as long as the contact area is sound and clean (preferably close to the starter motor)

The other two earth connections should go to the left and right engine head to provide for direct earth connection for good spark. This is not absolutely necessary as an earth feed could come via the stud bolts from the block but it's good practice to avoid voltage drops via that route and possibly getting variations betwen heads.

Yes true, got one big earth on the left, will find a home for it in the right hand side somewhere.  Thanks for the help.
