My 90 has stopped smoking.

Some may remember I posted that my 90 was smoking fairly heavily when it was idling during it's layup. This was when it was running fairly poorly.
Anyway, I've found that after tweaking the tune up and getting it all to back to where it should be, the smoking has disappeared. Nothing else was changed.
So my advice would be to ensure the injection system is all set up correctly, I'm not 100% sure why it has such an adverse effect, it could be the varying vacuum signal, piston rings "fluttering" with an unstable idle and not controlling oil or even the valve stem seals working too hard with the weird vacuum signals.
As an aside, I added some Liuqi Moly molybdenum additive to my engine oil on the weekend ( I had soem left over from rebuilding some motorcycle forks) and about 30 seconds after I added the moly to the oil, the idle rpms slowly started to creep up! It ended up gaining about 200rpm and the idle smoothed out a bit, so something is being done here. I don't normally ever use such additives, but as I said, it was there and thought I'd give it a go.
I think all my fleet will get a dose.

Regards, Andrew.

Yes Typhoon, i just started my V6 2.5 litre 12 valve up a couple of nights ago after a lay over of about a year and took it for a good run thru the city at night, man at take offs from traffic lights she smoked more than an ALCO diesel, i was losing sight of some cars behind me, it was like i had a 007 accessory, but took it for a good run tonight again thru the city and pretty much all clear, just the usual little bit if you take it up to 5000rpm or so in first but basically clear with normal driving, this was the LEADED V6 that i pulled out of a 90 about a year ago and just transplanted into my current 75 project.  ;D

The gearbox i put in my 75 project is a bit stiff though, it also has been sitting for a year or two, is there a good gearbox additive anyone can recommend to get a 90 gearbox back into smooth use?  ???

I see your problem.

You can also try this which is an equivalent

Or Redline, but it's expensive....
I put some Nulon G70 in non-transaxle and FWD gearboxes with every change and it works a treat!

Typhoon90

The Nulon additive is great, especially for older synchro rings. I tried some moly additive in the last manual box I owned, it worked VERY well.
Going to add some to the 90 with the redline oil I have waiting to go in.
