Hey guys, just getting my 105 gtv back on the road...  was wondering if anyone could tell me somewhere that can recondition/re-sleave the the secondary brake boosters?  I live in ACT and it seems that no one can do them here, any ideas? ???

Hi, I had trouble with my boosters about a year ago and took them to a local brake repair specialist. They in turn sent them to Independent Brake Supplies at 6-8 Ruby St Guildford 2161 (Sydney suburb) Phone 02 9892 2166. I got back exchange, fully reconditioned units, which have worked faultlessly since. The exchange units came with a document stating :- " This unit has been fully tested before leaving our premises. It contains all new components and is as new. The unit contains ... New or resleeved body, new diaphragms, check valves, seal & filter" There is a a 12 month warranty.. The negative part was that it was quite costly.
Hope this helps.

Cheers mate, what sort of price am i up for?

I think it was about $450.00 per booster ..... but give IBS a call to check, maybe it will be cheaper if you deal direct.

Probably as expensive as a new one. Alfaholics list new Bendix/Bonaldi servos for 168 pounds each (~$420).

When I did up my brakes last year, it was cheaper to buy 2 new servos (from Chris Sweetapple at Highwood Alfa) and have them shipped to Australia than to rebuild the old ones.

Thanks guys.  Chris, in relation to the new ones (could be a stupid question...) do they look indentical to the originals?

Yes - they are a direct swap - the only difference is the colour.

I've attached a photo of both prior fitting the new ones.

timeeh,

There's a couple of advantages of getting it recondioned PROPERLY.

1 Fitting a stainless sleeve means the bore will never corrode again.
2 Changing the piston rubbers over to cup type in preferrence to the "o" rings which are in use makes the operation inherently safer against "o" ring "blow-by" which can mean foot to the floor and no brakes at all. (has happened to me)

Thanks heaps guys.  think i'll go for the re-sleave option, want to try and keep everything the same, or at least looking the same.  Thanks again.
