Hi GUys

in getting my 75 ts back together i have noticed that the gear shift is rather tight especially first and second. I assumed when i bought the car this was due to shot gearbox mounts but they are new now..

it may be that i have connected it up wrong when putting it back in. This is the first time i have disconnected and reconnected the gear shift on one of these so the likely hood I have found the wrong way to do it is quite high :-)

Amy pointers on what to look for, should I pull the whole thing out and get a repair "kit" if there is one.

Any advice would be great.

Ta

No replies to this but I have a long weekend coming up, nothing of note to do on the Ducati, so the 75 gear shift cops it this weekend.

The plan is to jack the car up and attack the gear box end first. This was disconnected when I changed the gearbox mounts so I may have stuffed something up or there may be some adjustment there.

Anyway, if that doesnt work the whole lot from the gear shift to the gearbox will be coming out for inspection/grease/refit.

I will take some pickies and hopefully it may make an informative post.

Oh and hopefully it will work properly when I finish :-)

Shane,

In the earlier transmission that have the usual crank fixed to the selector shaft on splines instead of the birdsnest, it's possible to reassemble on the wrong splines and get yourself in some temporary strife. After a bit of trial and error, it is usually sorted.

However with the later changer, it only fits when aligned to the roll pin fixing and its virtually impossible to get this part at least wrong. There may be some simple binding up of some sort further away and along your selector or there could be an adjustment problem inside the box itself when the selectors were set up?

Really difficult to say without having a personal finger poke on the car itself and is the likely reason for the lack of replies I think.

Thanks Mate I am pumped and ready to discover all on the weekend. I suspect i may need to build a dam around the car though or suffer a wet bum.

I didnt pull any thing off the gearbox when i did the mounts but did disconnect and i think loosen a nut on the end of a shaft ??  It was some time ago.

Should be fun.
