In the words of Enzo in 1952 in response to a telegram of congratulations from Quaroni MD of Alfa Romeo on the first Ferrari victory in a World Championship. This was recounted by Enzo in 1985 Quadrifolio on Alfa's 75th anniversary.

"Dear friend at Alfa, please allow me this way of beginning this letter, written after so many years. Your telegram received today was like a breath of spring, and in the clear skies I read, with disconcerting clarity, the entire record of our relationship. I lived with you for twenty years: how many deeds, events and men went by! Today I remembered them, each and every one.
