I have new rubber bumper bar inserts from EB Spares for my 1974 2000 GTV 105. I have tried pushing/heating/striking to get the retaining lugs to stay in the bumper bar holes - with no luck. Do I need to remove the bumper bar and pull from the inside - or is there another trick ?? Thanks in advance for any help.

I pull them from the inside after the bar is installed, using long-nose pliers.

Generously coat with rubber grease or soapy water, prior to pulling plugs through with long plyers from behind.

Thanks for the tips. The bottom ones are easily accessible with long nose pliers, but there is only a 20mm gap behind the top ones to the grill/headlight. I think I would need a very short pair of long nose pliers, or maybe the bumper is non standard. I have attached a pic to make sure we are on the same page ! Thanks, John.

Yep, that's the normal ones.
You still should be able to get the top ones started with plenty of rubber grease (dont use normal grease, a the rubber grease dissapates leaving the plug fitting tight) and maybe poking with a long flat bladed screw driver from under the rubber, but on the TOP surface of the metal over rider. I know it's hard but it can be manipulated in with some swiveling of the rubber. Then when the top 'tit' is firmly secured, you can pull down the rubber across the bottom hole and with more rubber grease pull the tit through with your long pliers from behind.
Hard to explain.
