Red Devil GTV6

Hi All,

I have a GTV6 1985.

Since owning it now for around a year It has started to give off an excesive fuel burn smell. Particuly into the cabin while under hard accelaration. I have noticed some un burnt fuel coming out of the exhaust when I rev it! I have replaced fuel filter, oil filters, new spark plugs, oil change. All the basic stuff. All hoses a tight and in good nick!

Can anyone explain this? I use 98 Fuel Mobil. Is something that can be fixed on a dyno with a bit of tweeking? Or is this just Alfa?

Thanks

Are you sure its fuel coming out of the  exhaust one byproduct of burning fuel in car engines is water perfectly normal
if it is fuel it could be a leaking fueltank or fuel line the tank is in the boot easy for vapours to enter cabin from there
not sure what you mean by burnt fuel smell
is it oil smoke, oil leaking onto hot exhaust manifold then the fumes entering the cabin
or exhaust fumes
if it is raw fuel coming from the exhaust the car should be running rough from a rich mixture and your KLM/PL should also be high
could be fuel pump not shutting off it shuts off when you take your foot of the throttle via the air flow meter
or fuel regulator it sends fuel back to the fuel tank when the fuel rails have the correct pressure

franck

could it be a loose header or maybe exhaust flange, if its comming through the cabin.....burnt fuel would be an exhaust smell

Red Devil GTV6

Yeah it is certainly an exhaust/fuel smell.

Will check all the options.

Is the car using oil
Burnt oil through the exhaust could be finding its way into the cabin.
Check tailgate seals and the plastic plugs in the spare wheel well also under the back seat

If you think its excess fuel being burnt check the seventh injector it has a blue connecter
near the throttle body at the back of the plenum on the drivers side its designed to inject extra fuel during startup it is supposed to stop when the key is released
You could start the car then disconnect it, wrap some tape around the plug and see if there are any changes
