WTB: Alfetta GT project

Looking for an Alfetta GT restoration project (not for me, got enough on my plate..)

Any leads pls let me know.

Hi,

my neighbour has a very tidy red alfetta gt for sale. He's not computer literate (and is a little lazy). He's after 2800, and its well worth that. It's not much of a project, its more of a drive now proposition and is registered (not sure how much rego is on it currently). Car is located in Tas. I'm happy to act as the go between, so if you are interested I can tell you a fair bit about the car but after that you'll need to speak directly with him. I don't have photos of the car but could sort that out I suppose (if he can't).

Car is a real GT, but does have the gtv air duct sections in the rear gards...no idea why. Still has original motor which is in seemingly good condition. Car is pretty rust free, overall a surprising little car.

To add to Mike's comments I know the car, and know one its previous owners. I had a ride in it some years ago and recall when it was for sale in one of the local car yards for appox $2K. I thought it a pretty reasonable price at the time. From memory it was a pretty nice tidy GT, though I havn't seen it for some years now.

I am not sure if you know Dom Fantini, Mike, but he was the guy who bought the car from Tasma Car sales. I recall he did a few things to it and for a while ran it with a set of Momo vegas, though I wasn't aware he had on-sold it.

I agree it was a little confusing to see it with the GTV script rather than the GT flutes on the rear pillars. No idea what happened there. I used to have a 2L grill on my GT but I know why that was, it had been in a front end prang and I imagine the repairer couldn't obtain an original grill.

If it is on par with what it used to be like, and Dom looks after his cars, $2800 seems a very fair price.

If you have got the time don't dismiss the Ferry. Treat yourself to a cheap weekend in Tassie, possibly Australia's best keept secret.

I bought an Alfetta down in Tassie about 3 years ago. Got a $19.95 Tiger Airways flight each way. ($19.95 return was pretty cheap insurance if the car was no good) Then about $160 on the Spirit of Tasmania to come back to Melbourne. Great experience . Great Car.

yup Martin, pick the car up, stay at my place and we'll drive round Tassie in a couple of Alfas before you head back. You really have no excuse....nor does your mate ;-). If you want it you better be quick, theres a couple of blokes looking at it and it is a good little car so wont last long. Sad really, I had rather hoped it would stay at the end of my street for when I extended my shed ;-).

anyway, sorted him with a 79 GTV 2000 tonight.. Not a GT but too good to pass up..

I would consider another GT but need to make some space first..

If it is then I'll end up with a Sc project and a GT. Mmmm!

Martin - one of each. Can't bring myself to "Sc" a GT, would rather keep that alongside my 105 GTV. So starting with a shell and building up an Sc car as well makes more sense.

Paul - done that. She's not overly happy but we all need our hobbies!

Phil - gotta loose a few pounds before all the numbers add up I suspect but it looks like fun. May take me some time to get there but a good project.

I nearly bought the Prugna 77 GTV on carsales but just got pipped by one of you Victorians! Just as well, as it was going to be a hard sell to the Mrs as I have two project alfas now. She wasnt keen on the colour and I should really use my money for the paint on my Super. But boy those 116 GTVs and GTs are enticing! I love the early ones, so boys we need to talk if you have any leads on a well priced one later in the year! The way I figure, I have 3 kids so they will each need to inherit an alfa when I die in 60 years time!
