the a-pillar and its base can be accessed through the sunvisor  mounting holes (pics later), and the sill through the drainage slots and hole seen in pic 3. On early cars I sometimes drill a hole or two on top of the sill if I'm really worried, and the car isnt a show'n'shine or concourse contender anymore  .. the area below the front screen, particularly the ends next to the a-pillars are evil. access through vents below screen and wiper arm mounting points...

If you want to grow old with your 116 you don't want to find rust in your A pillar . Very hard to fix and it can be terminal.

what do you suggest to spray in there?
Mine is pretty healthy at the moment and has been rustproofed twice in its life
but I dont think it would hurt to get some more protection at the base of the A pillar.

Valvoline Tectyl 506. if i'm confident that there is existing rust, i use a rust converter or rust converting paint first..
