Hey Neil,

I was hoping to enter this one but I'm (and the car) not quite ready to race yet.  :(

However, if you need help on the day officiating or anything, I'll be glad to help.

Your assistance is most welcome, please come up and introduce yourself, I am the one who is running around doing ten jobs at once and getting things started.

Probably check in and equipment set up and hand out are the busy areas to look after.

Cheers

Last call for entries for Sandown, get them in this week so I am not bogged down with paperwork the last minute, as I too have a car to prepare.

Hi Folks, it's Chris here from the MX5 club.
I took a bunch of photos today from the start/finish area.
Most of them are at the link below. The pics have been resized down quite a bit to save bandwith, but if anyone wants full high res images shoot me a pm with the file name of the pics that you want. (e.g. IMG_7730 ) and an email address and I'll try to get them to you.
For those that want to play in photoshop, some of them are also in .CR2 format. ( But at 12 Mb a file, PLEASE only ask if you REALLY want them.)
Cheers
Chris

I have recently joined AROCA Vic club, but I have run with the clubs for a few events.
And as usual this was another well run event.
Kudos to Neil, all the organisers and all the officials who runs the day esp. CoC from MX-5 club.

Hey there all,

Another great Sandown sprint event successfully competed and everyone smiling.  Well ran and no problems.

Coffee truck showed up on time for caffeine fixes, cars on track pretty on time, scrutiny done by 8:40 am, lots of runs, minimal recoveries, all behaved, supplied afternoon tea and you should have seen all the drivers running for the cakes like sea gulls.  So the idea is that we will now supply cakes at drivers' briefing, this way, we will get ALL drivers to briefing on time and promptly.  We actually ran out of cars to run by 4 pm.

Everyone had a great day, I also and most of all enjoyed seeing the event panning out so successfully.

Thanks to all the officials:

Greg Savage, Alan Hopla, Mick Pannell, Bruno Colautti, Peter Game, Andrew Toomath, Chris Schlaghecke, Ben Sale, Greg Sale, Geelong Flag Marshal team, all the scrutineers, Barry Edmunds (club shop), Claude Botti, Michael Botti, Daniel Botti, Ivan Susigan, Daryl Susigan, Hugh Harrison, Mat Francis, Steve Aarons, Phil Aarons, Mick Aarons, Frank Musco, Wendy Harrison, Andrew Carra, Gavin Daniels.

I know there are many more, I apologize for forgetting.  Please send me an email and I will amend this list.

Without these helpers, the event will not have happened.

So thanks all.

And thanks to all that donated to the Shitbox Rally fund for myself and Stuart, much appreciated.  Thanks for organising that Neil.

Anyone with pictures of the event, would love to see some.

Thanks Chris for your post.

Being rather self centred, I was particularly looking for pictures of car No 161.

Perhaps Ben and Greg Sale have some???

Cheers

Hi Neil, I didn't actually take that many photos as the location wasn't really that exciting or suited to photos. But here is some of what I managed to take http://www.flickr.com/photos/35980401@N04/sets/72157625007298196/

I have a car 16, I can't see a 161 in my shots...

I had a great day out there flagging, it was quite interesting watching the different approaches everyone was taking to the last few corners. I'd recommend it to anyone who's not driving. The lunch and snacks provided by AROCA were much appreciated too! As were the waves from people on the cool down laps :) That being said I can't wait to be driving again at Phillip Island.

Thanks  :) I was standing at the flag point just before the last two corners. Being that close gives really nice motion blur with a 1/100 shutter, though you have to be really on it to match your pan speed with with cars speed, when you're further away it's a lot easier to get right. The ones of the cars bouncing off the curbs are taken with a 200mm lens which helped get in close.
I look forward to seeing your pics :)
