Rust prevention

I have admired alfas for years and am only now in a position to buy one.  I am currently looking at a 105 coupe but have the usual concerns about rust prevention.  I have used fishoil on other cars previously, but am interested in your collective knowledge experience on the best products/techniques for preventing rust - particularly if there is a product (or provider) which can effectively stop rust developing without the unpleasantness of fishoil.

Tectyl 506 made by Valvoline is military spec anti corrosion and corrosion sabilizer which has been used since the second world war. Should tell you how good it is..
