For those sprinters who don't have a roll bar to mount your camera the following maybe of interest. First of all my car is a 1979 Alfetta GTV that i use for sprints an EMR's. I wanted to be able to mount a camera and take it out with miminal damage to the interior . I have tried various systems , but i think this one is pretty simple and works, (well around the block so far . Winton is the test this weekend.)

In essence after mounting camera's in various positions in the car it is soon becomes pretty obvious that it has to be mounted directly to the body to minimize any vibrations. In addition you probably have to get 3 mounting points to make sure it is stable.

The three mounting points i used where the seatbelt mounting points holes on either side of the transmission tunnel and some existing trim screw points on the back parcel shelf.

The materials needed where

      1. A piece  of aluminum 25 mm square  tube approx  600mm long as the mounting post
      2. A piece of aluminum plate 30mm X 150mm X 5m as the base plate that attaches to the transmission tunnel.
      3. 25 mm X400mm right angled section to fabricate the camera cage
      4. 25 mm light flat bar to use as stays. for the camera post (mounted seat belt hole other side of transmission tunnel & near the      top of camera  post back parcel shelf) .  ( all avaliable from bunnings or Capral Aluminum for about $20.00)

All you need in addition the the above is a few hours in the shed  and the following tools hacksaw, rubber mallet, pop rivetter, drill .

Bye the way the camera is a little  Kodak Zi6  RRP $99.00 as recommeded by Stuart Thompson . ( see previous posts)

Dehne , I would be interested to hear if you have tried the camera & double sided tape on the track ( Winton). As opposed to a drive around the block. Also not to sure how scrutineers  would feel about double sided tape as a mounting system.

Paul - slightly off topic but are you using the top child seat bracket to mount your harness?  I ask as that's what I used in my first GTV6 and I ended up with 2 cracked ribs.

Alister, without being to flippant  about your injuries was that the crash at Eastern Creek that lead to the nick name " Momo".

Because you when so far forward you had the momo from the steering wheel stamped on your chest, then two cracked ribs.

Back to the more serious point about harness mounting points. With what is noted in the latest "Cams manual of Motorsport 2010  ( page 6 .22) it seems that a back parcel shelf location is what is recommended  ( see enclosed)
