Is it reasonable to expect a decent 98 (or there about) model Spider for $9000?

My daughter is looking to move up from a Golf Mk1 Cabriolet... looking for advice from those more knowledgeable than I?

Thanks

yep - there have been quite a few on carsales, but be aware they will have around 100,000kms or more at that stage, are 10+ yrs old, and even if you pay $9k-10 for one, set aside another $1.5k for transfer and rego obviously...

but you'd also be looking at some expenses like clutch, timing belt/waterpump/variator, and perhaps some suspension work... that's about $3-4k u can expect to pay at least...

unless some or all of that has been done at a reputable ALFA SPECIALIST before.... either way, u'll end up paying well over $9k...

Wankski is right on the money, as usual.

And don't forget that these were a fairly expensive, premium car when new.  Although they are relatively cheap these days, the price of parts and labour does not go down commensurately, if anything it goes the other way.  At 10 years old, things will be starting to fail, no matter how well it has been looked after.

And it's uglier than a Golf Mk 1 Cabriolet....

So yes, she should get one.
