If you run out of time, come round and borrow one of mine. You could just pull out the whole axle/plate/brake shoe assembly from one side of my spare complete back axle and shove it in yours for the time being.
Just give me a call (not wednesday or thursday) if you want that option.

Thanks Paul, you're very kind!

I hope to have the assembly apart and either another backing plate or this one machined by Thursday.... Still enough time to reassemble, bleed the brakes and road test... If this doesn't work out I might take you up on your offer, or else I'll drive the 75.

All sorted now, both sides fit together including hand brake mechanism. Just need a couple of hours to finish the reassembly and bleed/adjust brakes then test drive before Broadford!
