I'd suggest if you are attending; enter Batman's Hill Drive from the south, the traffic is usually at a stand still heading south from Bourke Street between 4:30 and 6:30.

Re Fox Museum, also due to high buildings your GPS won't get a clear signal, and use a current Melways as Batman Hill Drive was formerly Stadium Drive and before that it was Batman Drive, also the Fox Museum has no name or numbers on it, but is on the corner of Batman Hill Drive and Collins St. which has now been extended in the last few years, Colin.

You would have to ask Colin who is organising it, see the details on the website for his email address and mobile no, but you would have to get in quick as numbers are filling up.

The Fox Museum night, the opening hours are 5pm - 8pm, that should give everyone enough time to make it from work, i have no official start time as not everyone wants to get there at the same time, also car parking at the venue is restricted, so everyone turning up at the same time would cause problems, although there is plenty of pay car parks around the area, if you have any concerns phone Colin on 0407 090 826 or email me drtool@bigpond.com.au , Colin.

Thanks for organising this, Colin. The Mercedes McLaren SLR 722 GT was probably the highlight for me.

Or being a hatch driver, perhaps I should vote for the twin engined Mercedes A class...  ;D

Also nice to be reminded of Porsche's rally history in Australia. I had nearly forgotten about that.

Thank you Colin,
It was an interesting and worthwhile visit.
For me, both the early open top Bentley tourer - the white one hiding in the back corner - so much style and class and the iconic MB 300 SL Gullwing. Just fabulous.
Peter.

As my 12 year old daughter described it - "awesome"!

Thanks Colin for organising.  It was good to see the cars again and have such free access to such a wonderful collection.

+1 Colin - many thanks,  particularly enjoyed the engine display,  you know those Merlin engines are big,  but when you're standing next to one and think about sitting in a Spitfire with that going full song..... inspiring !

the baby rollers were great to see too - someone must have had some lucky kids, that's for sure !

The star for me was the 550 Spyder...      I loved my Duetto, but that 550 gives me the shivers (the good ones ;) )

Thank you Colin for organizing . It was my first time at the Museum .  I must say seeing the 288 GTO in the flesh was a real treat .

For the Lindsay Fox Museum night, there were 66 on my list, 7 were invited from the Fiat club and the other 59 were from the Alfa club, thank you to everyone who attended, the staff on the night there were mostly volunteers, which accounts for it not being open all the time, thank you to Marisa Gangemi for the photo's that are going in the Alfa Magazine, also cheers to the club member who suggested that we make a night of it to go there, for the next Technical night it is up to club members, tell me what you want to see and i will see if i can arrange it, Colin.

Many people may not know that we had a club dinner there many years ago.  Something like the 25th annivesary, members came from all over Australia.  I'll have some pictures somewhere buried in a box but maybe someone has some close at hand.  We also collected a whole bunch of photo's from the clubs early days and projected them on a large screen.

Dinner was on tables set up especially upstairs with drinks in the workshop on arrival.   The facillity was a pretty recent thing then and we were one of the first clubs to be alllowed to us it in that way.  The workshop was being run by a club member (can't recall his name - he had a duetto by memory).

Before the collection went to Docklands all or most of it was in a warehouse in Caulfield.  Tom Woolnough, who older members will remember with affection, had his tyre shop next door and had pretty free access to the collection.  Lucky friends got taken in which is how I got to sit in the 959 and F40 when they were almost new.  Years ago of course but good memories.
