The parents must have been quaking in their boots! I rebuilt the Junior's engine -taking about 3 months - rendering the folks laundrey unuseable for this time. I'm still surprised to this day that the completely rusted floorpan never gave-way, tipping driver, passenger and whatever else was in the car at the time onto the bituman.

Probably a GTV6 gearbox rebuild in the mid 90's by an "AR specialist" in Sydney that topped out at around $4.5k, without including two lots of return freight Hbt to Sydney or bringing in a crownwheel & pinion from the UK. Plus that didn't include the labour of twice in & out of the 6 as I did that!! Kim
