I've only done about 700km, so it might be early days, but the car is saying that average consumption is 14 l/100km. It's all city driving, but I am not driving aggressively. It sounds a bit high (advertised figure , combined cycle, is 8 litres).

Anyone has any thoughts?

Urban is quoted at 11.8 so your 14 is within reason.  The fuel consumption on modern cars is incredibly sensitive to driving conditions and driving style.

Thanks. I don't really care about the consumption,  I will drive it the way it feels good, but if I getting 14 and going easy on it, i wonder what happens when I start to drive it ?

I will drive really slowly and carefully over the next 100 km , just to see how low I can get it. Then I will drive it properly for 100km, and report back. Should be fun.

Don't worry too much about fuel consumotion as this stage, just make sure you run the car in properly, don't labour the motor and don't rev it too hard, in fact if you really want to run it in properly, go for a drive in the mountains [real Alfa Romeo territory], go up hills, rings work and bed in, go down hills rings cool off, after about one thousand kays it should be run in, then the motor will have loosened up, THEN you can get a realistic guide to fuel use, keep us informed, Colin.

My 2.2 shows around 13 on the computer - average. Manual calculations of consumption are indicating higher than this which is interesting.

My 2008 3.2 actually changed personality after 20,000km.  Not only did the engine become more responsive with increased gusto but the fuel economy went from extremely poor to very, very poor.
I have spoken to other 3.2 owners and they have experienced the same thing.
Cheers,
Marco.

For comparison, my 06 3.6l 76,000 Commodore wagon which shares the eng block with the 3.2 159, gets 12.2-14.5 l /100k around town, and on the recent trip to PI for the historics it returned 9.2l/100. Car weighs 1620kg and that was carrying 4 adults. Figures are from the car's comp display.

Not a comparison, as the engineers at Alfa have a different concept to pushing fuel through it.

Might as well compare it to my GTA. For reference as low as 9.1 L/100km on a leg driving back from Qld, and around town between 15 and 18 L/100km. Still rather drive it than a Holden though ;)
