Hi everybody,

I have been following Vicroad's recent changes to the Club Historic plates and understand the scheme to allow limited running over 90 days of the year is now active.

http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/Registration/PermitsModificationsAndDefects/OtherPermits/ClubPermits.htm

If I read correctly, it only applies to cars 25 years of age and over?

I presume it is a rolling 25 years, so as at today, the car has to be 27 April 1986 or older.

So my question is:

When representation was made about the changes to the scheme, did anyone try and get the scheme to apply to newer cars?

I guess if newer cars were included it would be open to potential abuse, but many people use their newer cars in the same way as cars over 25 years.

Thanks
Torben

Hi Torben,
Cars younger than 25 years are generally not considered to have any historical significance (even though some owners may disagree).  You are right, the system would be abused.
