hello out there.
trying to remove dash and ran into a hitch with the speedo and clutch cable on 77 sedan. Seemingly impossible to remove given limited space. All bolts are removed and steering wheel has been lowered but unsure how to remove from back of speedo. the retainer thingy wont budge. This seems to be only thing holding dash on...
Any suggestions would be very welcome. Dash is splitting a little, and wondering if i should just cut it and worry about it later..thanks

Hi there,
If you mean the speedo and tacho cables then it is most likely a 1.8L GT to have a mechanical tacho .
The cables could be fixed to the back of the instruments by either a right hand thread nut (round knurled) or a plastic lock ring(like sleeve) which you will need to pull back away from the instrument while holding the cable still and then you can withdraw the cable from the instrument. If it has the plastic retainers the end of the instrument will look a bit like a male air fitting if you are familiar with these. If you can disconnect the other ends of the cables ie at the water pump and transaxle you can pull some slack up to the fire wall and pull the instruments out far enough to see what they are at the back of the instrument.
Good luck!
Cheers
