New carby required, suggestions

Hi gang,

Just been told my carbies need to be rebuilt (again) so before I go ahead with it, I thought I'd see what the consensus is about the standard dellorto's compared with weber and such. See if it's worth me changing them or what not.

Also any suggestions on where I can get parts/rebuild kits.

Whats wrong with the Dellortos ?
What car are they off ?
What year model car and engine ?
Rebuit again ?
Hoe long ago were they rebuilt ?

Nothing "wrong" with Dellortos. That said what are you using them in/for and what is the problem you are having?

If you want some that don't need a rebuild, I have a pair of DHLA40H that were rebuilt and placed on shelf after a couple of tuning runs only. And they ran nicely. Might need some minor jetting changes depending on what you want to do with them, but should be fine on a stock 2L as is.

cool cool, as it happens i managed to find the part that was problematic on the internet, much to my mechanics surprise as he was certain it could not be found. So i shall be fixing my current one.

But just out of curiousity, is it worth upgrading them at some point in the future? Keeping in mind she's my daily drive, with the occasional "spirited driving" on weekends and hopefully some track work in the future.

My mechanic was saying that the weber dcoe 45s would provide a fairly noticeable improvement..

After driving mum's twin charged golf around while mine was in the shop, I am finding myself wanting more power!

Glad you got it sorted.
Re going to 45s - Are you doing headwork and cams? Have you bought yourself a copy of JK's book? Who's your mechanic?
For what you describe I wouldn't change carbs until/unless you ran out of other improvements to make (and had $ left)... But given I have no idea what your car is / is like now maybe thats where you are already.

Nah I've just got it done pretty standard, fully rebuilt motor with 10548 cams, sports muffler and that's about it as far as power is concerned. I'm thinking next step is some PACE extractors?

would love to supercharge her one day   ;D ;D
