Ben

I would prefer music in the video, much more interesting to watch and listen to.

Cheers

Hi Neil,

I'll keep music in the highlights part of the DVD like the preview. The section which has all of the footage from the different sessions probably should have no music though so that people can hear their cars. Besides I think people would tire of my music taste after around two hours! =P

Ben,

If its anything like my son's it would be much sooner than 2 hours.

Excellent video. I like how you started at drivers briefing and all the different positions around the track, also the music is good in the background so you can still hear the cars. I like the black and white, maybe a touch lighter?, it reminded me of the cold morning starts and then the change to colour as the day warms up, great work!

Ben33

Thanks for the compliment Frank! =)
The next one I want to try and get some more atmosphere footage in the pit area for the start of the video to tell more a story of the day but was too busy trying to get to everyone to see if they wanted a DVD that I didn't have time.
You're the second person to mention the black and white being a bit dark, looks fine on my screen but will brighten it up a touch for the DVD version.

Another Sandown video - this time from Ray Pignataros' Alfasud chasing a GTV...Unfortunately he does let a Sykline slip by...

.. just a note this video was made using a Kodak ZX1 video camera - great video and audio quality from such a small low cost device...

Here are a couple of clips from the camera in the Ricciardi.

On my last session I spent a couple of fun laps trying to keep up with the Blanden 105, but unfortunately made a mistake with the camera and didn't have it running - the vids are a lot more interesting when there's stuff happening with other cars.

Looking forward to Ben's DVD - great initiative Ben, and I hope it's something you can carry on to other events.

Thanks Jim! I beg to differ - the 155 looks much scarier with all that power  ;)

I used RaceRender2 (http://www.racerender.com/RR2/Features.html) to merge the data. It seems to do what I want, and wasn't expensive. There's pricier software that does more and looks better, but this is all I need for the moment.

Tim, I haven't seen that software before - but it sure looks a bargain.  I will give it a try and see how it compares to the trackvision software (that is a bit expensive and a bit complicated..)

Paul.. that's Alan Goodall in the 75 - unfortunately he wasn't at Sandown last weekend to continue the struggle. In the vid with the 75 I pass under the big sign going up the hill on the back straight doing 180kph - last weekend, as you can see from the video the car is now at 205 kph at the same point... so it has got faster.

Jim,

Being in Qld, I haven't seen your car lately. Is it fitted with a roll cage now?

The second question is about the air/fuel ratios displayed in the video. I don't know too much about boosted ratios and values like I have seen seem odd. Care to explain?

MD - no, I don't have a roll cage for it yet, although I am reminded of the usefulness of these devices each time i drive the car at Phillip Island. I was planning to implement one this year, however, other technical issues have prevented me from getting to it. - But its certainly the next thing on the list when I am satisfied that the car is working properly.

The AFR's on the video are gasoline AFR values but I am running the car on E85 fuel. (The E85 I am using comes from Jaguar fuels, its 85% CSR Ethanol and 15% 98RON Gasoline). I prefer the petrol AFR numbers because I am used to them! The lambda values just don't 'say' anything to me. We are running the car at approx 10.2 AFR at WOT. This is pretty rich, even for an E85 car - but the we are running 1.45bar boost with a compression ratio of 9.5:1. The fact that the values slam back to AFR 22.5 when you close the throttle is more of a function of the Innovate motorsports LC-1 behaviour than anything else..I am really only interested in the WOT numbers.

cheers, jim.

Hi all, I't's taken me while to post some video on Youtube.
Jim goes past me up the back straight 58 seconds in (along with everyone else it seems!) I couldn't run full boost due to a suspected fuel delivery problem but my pressure gauge died so couldn't test so was a bit slow for run group 1 with a 1.32.9 listed as my best time (previous best of 1.28.7 on full boost)

It's not often I get to go past a 911 so I had to include this!
