what an amazing video - great driving, and incredible how much steering adjustment is required when the car is going in a straight line too...

There really is no substitute for cubic inches.

Hey Gully, don't knock the A30, one P Brock started his career in an A30, admittedly it did have a red hot holden six in it..

Yeah Anthony, I have seen some lunatic with a V8 at Calder in an Austin A30-"an engine with wheels on"
I'll never forget.

Went like a Chihuahua with a hot chilly up the foochoo but couldn't stop !!  ;D

He is not a bad steerer as well, took a while to get past the Valiant, you remember Chrysler Australia?, they went to Bathurst with a 3 speed gearbox!, and the gearlevers used to break off, thats the Chrysler mob who are building the new Alfa Romeo V-6, loved the variety of cars Vauxhalls, Ramblers and did i see a Hillman?, i was talking to a bloke the other day who drives a XB Falcan and he says it is diabolical, but they actually used to race cars like this at Bathurst,  no OHS then, Colin.

Credit where it's due, that was decently quick, sounded great and entertaining to boot  8).
But as for 'No substitute for cubic inches'? I'd like to see it drag as much weight around per litre of engine as a 105 GTV. Say 500kg/litre, 5.8 x 500kg = 2900kg! I wonder how fast it'd be then  :P

Ha!  I'd also like to see how a 105 would cope with a 300kg V8 in the front!!  ;) Considering how heavy that car is, it does pretty well.  It's still a shitbox, but just sayin'

Great driving though, and he's way more patient than I would have been.

Probably handle and stop just as well as the Falcon.  ;D

Yeah know what you mean Choder but then again, if you put your rose tinted glasses on for a moment, as I have, it takes me back to the days when Bathurst was Bathurst and a real spectacle, rather than the boring 2 horse race that it is these days.

I for one used to be glued to the telly as a kid when Bathurst was a proper race, with all sorts of makes, classes competing.  Today it is simply V8 chooks and crapadores and I can't even be bothered to turn the telly on.

So while I am no real fan of the XY GTHO, at least I had an arm chair view of a race with, Alfas, Studibakers, Valiants, Escorts etc all having fun over the mountain.  More the power to this.

For some really wild steering inputs, have a look at Seton in the rain on slicks in '87. Also, as it was a world touring car race, a huge assortment of cars...
