MD

I have given up on the search facility.
Anyone have access to a factory manual that prescribes the correct engine cylinder compression value for the twin spark engine? I am expecting at least 165lbs but I would like to know what the factory spec is.

MD, have you got the TS manual from Craigs place yet? It's a beauty :)

Obviously you are building one atm, looking forward to the thread on it ;)

Oh yeah - forget the search function on here, it's woeful.

Yes I do have the manuals and I checked TS one before I did the search and placed the post for help. Whilst the manual has a list of engine specifications, it does not state the cylinder compression. It does provide the CR but that is not what I need. I cannot recollect exactly where in the manual it makes reference to a "Factory" manual for additional specifications so I am assuming that not all details are in the manuals on Craig's web site.

Nevertheless, thanks for your effort to help. I appreciate it.

Hi MD,

Hopefully this may help, this link states the bmep (brake mean effective pressure) at 165.4 psi.

http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/models/car/?car=204952

It may have nothing to do with actual cylinder pressures but would it provide an effective comparision ?

Cheers

QuoteObviously you are building one

Thankfully I am not but I am appraising a used engine and these figures are very helpfull to know what condition the ring and valve seals are.

I see you're a ferret of the old school.  :)
Thanks for that info. For 10:1 CR I was expecting around 180lbs so now  I don't have to guess. As you know, whether an engine is new or used, whilst the target value is important, it is equally important that the values are all the same across all the cylinders.(or as close to same as possible).

Thanks guys.
