linkage swap

  I have a original gtv6 transaxle with an isostatic linkage that i wish to convert to the earlier linkage. Is it an easy swap of the  selector shaft that comes out of the box  and if so are all the selector  shafts the same from a  4 or 6 cylinder transaxle.

Lots on the web about this, mainly going the other way. Top of my head going this way you may also need to change or modify the gear lever as it's length below the pivot is different between the two types, as i think is the bush.  Obviously you'll also need the earlier rod between the gear lever and the gearbox.

I am certain the selector shaft is the same spec save for the splined connection. Rest as per aggie57.

If there is any contact from the use of the later shifter(which I doubt) just fit a plate under the housing on the tunnel and lift it to give the clearance.

BTW, there is nothing to be gained here by doing this other than robustness of the assembly. The shift will be just the same, crap.

 Thanks gents, is just as i thought but wanted some reassurance.  Yes MD, nothing to be gained however i fitted a monkey shift kit to another car and it was a lot better, but for how long? I am converting an iso box to fit in a non iso body and dont want to do any modifying . Doug
