Inspired by our Vic President and our esteemed Editor, we are also taking the trip from Melbourne to Cairns.

Our team is myself and my wife Anita, we also have my sister-in-law Vanessa Sharp as our Hitch-hiker; raising money for the Cancer Council is a cause close to our hearts.

Without trying to put the Editor offside we have gone for an Alfa 90. Currently, it doesn't run on petrol, but runs sweetly on LPG which will most likely will be removed because we don't need the complexity!

I've been working on some body work first; already removed some nasty rust from the B-pillar and a door skin, as well as straightened up a bent quarter panel.

Please donate to a great cause if you can - http://www.everydayhero.com.au/alfa_will_we_get

Cheers,
Brad M

Probably the fuel pump, it doesn't make much noise ... not surprising, it was sitting for a few years.

Hi Brad,

You'll need these.

Not for the engine noise though.

Cheers

Funny you say that, our old and new treasurer are rumoured to be on the lookout for a shit box.

That would make 5 teams !

If you all buy the same car then breakdowns wont be an issue! Just split up the parts they carry aqnd presto, it should be an Alfa 1 through 5 podium finish!

Repco Lad

And I'll make sure that every Repco between Melb and Cairns carries bloody Alfa Giulietta wheel bearings!!

It's been a while ....

Issues addressed:

  • Panel issues addressed, both cosmetic and minor structural.
  • Fuel pump replaced
  • Cam belt changed (thanks Vin)
  • Coolant flushed
  • Car decorated
  • Injectors removed and cleaned (thanks Bruno/Giancarlo of Maranello PurSang)
  • Sourced a functioning indicator stalk (big thanks to Martyn Piercey, hope to catch up in person at PI )
'
  • Removed the LPG condensor

Things still to do (that I know about):

  • Shield/protect the fuel pump
  • Make some sort of bash plate to protect the sump
  • Fit indicator stalk (another big thanks to Martyn Piercey)
  • Change the oil and filter (thanks Bruno/Giancarlo of Maranello PurSang for the filter ... and Marco for delivering it)
  • Source and replace the front wheel bearings
  • Fit some driving lights, got a great deal from Super Cheap :)
  • Source a spare wheel, looking for a standard one like the existing ones ... see photo
  • Source and replace the rear brake pads
  • Remove the LPG tank from the rear
  • Address the possible sticking clutch
  • Would love a standard v6 Throttle body (if available).
  • Drive the car lots, to try and find anymore issues.

Looking for some technical wiring details ... http://www.alfaclubvic.org.au/forum/index.php?topic=8403

We were trying to get the injectors on cylinders 5 & 6 to work, the common wire from the relay bank was dead (the spliced in wires for the LPG installation seemed to have caused an issue).

    Brad

Was doing car stuff this morning, have some used rear pads which could be useful if you want them.

    Let me know.
