Picked up a two extra engine parts with my spare 1750 engine.

Does the front of the head have any markings?

1300 engine: A circle with a vertical line
1600 engine: A circle with a square
1750 engine: A circle with a triangle - later models have also a dot in the middle
2000 engine: A circle with a square and a diagonal line

There's some handy scans of Fusi's VIN / Chassis numbers here - which puts that engine block as a 1970 1750 from a GTV.   I think :)

Ash,

The 00548 series engines were 1750s built for the European and RHD market.
The US 1750 engines were 00551 series.

For 1970, the numbers ran from 00548.45485 to 0548.138007 so your block is from a 1970 1750.
Could have originally been in a sedan, coupe or spider - there is no way of telling.
